Sophie Christopher- Bowes BSY.A.FS. I am a qualified practitioner with a diploma in advanced Feng Shui and lots of practical experience.

I have been interested in the art of feng shui for years, and had been practicing naturally for years in various homes, offices and garden spaces. Adding wind chimes, water features, and curves which were once square.  It became clear to me that a lot of our supposed progress was actually insulating me from the treasure trove of ancient knowledge that informs feng shui. I like so many people were living in homes and spaces that just was not suitable for me or family/ partner cats and dogs, in the design, layout and  orientation. These would have a profound effect on health wellbeing, relationships both at home and in the workplace

A while a go we moved from Worcestershire to Oxfordshire, the place was totally surrounded on all four sides with other buildings.  After a time me and my husband be gain to not get on and our relationship took a nose dive for the worse. Feelings of being enclosed and over looked, with no sense of being at home,  became our way of life. But outside of the home, we made friends, enjoyed the beautiful natural surroundings. I started making small adjustments to our space, as our living room and kitchen was open plan, and more and more we were both working from home. With addition of two rescued cats, we were slowing getting out of balance. Feng shui helped me to re balance my home work life, redecorating, as well as re positioning various objects. The immediate results were a breath of fresh air, the place also looked better and felt better. But on a deeper level we now feel at peace and have a very positive atmosphere in our home.

Martin Shaw award winning actor says ” Feng shui came into my life out of an intuitive sense that there was something more to the “feeling” of a place than simply physical beauty or the artful placement of objects and furniture. It struck me that some places immediately conveyed a sense of peace and tranquility, while others exuded chaos and discomfort”.

Feng shui is an ancient science that goes back at least 3,500 years. The practice of Feng Shui has its roots in the Chinese way of viewing the universe where all things on the Earth are categorized into the five basic elements FIRE, METAL, EARTH, WOOD and WATER and take on implications of positive or negative energy.

This energy is known as Chi or more good fortune for those who are surrounded by it. The analysis and practice of each of these elements can have either Yin or Yang attributes.

Feng shui is about using well thought out arrangements of spaces and objects to produce a flow of natural energy that feels right.

As a technique for living, Feng Shui is best understood as the science of selecting or arranging a living environment where the five elements and the Yin and Yang energies are in complete harmonious balance, thereby bringing the good life to those who reside within the environment

Feng shui is also an art – born of experience and common sense – and the skill of correcting disharmony in the environment and of improving one’s immediate living and work space to strengthen further this vital balance and harmony.

Feng shui does not require you to believe in it. You do not have to believe in Feng Shui for it to work. It is neither a religious nor a spiritual practice it requires no compromise of any of your moral or religious beliefs.

In our practice  we use the following:

Landform Feng shui – looks at  land forms, shapes, weather conditions,

Form school Feng shui – + – in visual appearance of physical landscape, hills and mountains, waterways orientations and directions.

Compass form Feng shui – analysis on the I ching’s  eight trigrams and placements, of these trigrams around eight- sided symbol know as pa kua, compass directions, time dimensions, numerology based calculations , compass methods address time and spatial concepts of Feng shui

Feng  Shui is not a spiritual practice that creates miracles. Its does not bring overnight success. It does not change the circumstances of an individual’s life immediately. Feng Shui works according to the quality of the energies that surrounds any domestic or work place space.

Restoring the balance of energies:   feng shui can be applied to any facet of living and working condition. It has to do with enhancing the energies of the surrounding environment as well as the immediate living and working space. It function on the premises that if one lives – breathes, sleeps, sits, eats, and works –surrounded by healthy, vibrant energy then one will be enveloped by an aura of good vibration that attract excellent good fortune. On the other hand, if one is surrounded by bad energy, dead energy, or killing energy, the environment brings grave misfortunes.

Feng Shui principles will be incorporated into the design layouts of homes, office and gardens, and farms. It does not matter if you own your own home or rented if it is an apartment or single room a house or a bungalow it can be temporary or permanent. Any space that you retire to at the end of each day for rest , relaxation and rejuvenation should offer you the benefits of an harmonious flow of energy. When your home is wrapped in Feng Shui you will be wrapped with a vibrant and revitalizing energy.

Every room in the house can benefit from feng shui including living room, and dinning rooms. As well as family areas like bedrooms. Layout, orientations, shapes, colour schemes, placement of furniture, decorative objects and paintings all add to the totality of the whole. Putting them together correctly is what Feng shui is all about.
